Pills for Diabetes

Question from Kokomo, Indiana, USA:

Can Actos cause problems with your body after taking it for so long? If yes, is there something else you can take for diabetes?

Answer:

From: DTeam Staff

Actos [pioglitazone] is one of the newer thiazolidinediones which does not appear to cause the chronic liver problems of the original drug. However, you really need to talk this over with your doctor. An alternative drug would be metformin, and of course, in type2 diabetes, there is always the role of exercise and weight loss.
