Question from India:
Which test produces a more valid C-Peptide level, one done fasting or one done two hours after a meal? If the test is normal, is it best to proceed with insulin sensitizers or control of diet, exercise and stress?
Answer:
From: DTeam Staff
The two-hour glucose is a much better “stress test” of insulin secretion than is the fasting glucose. If the fasting glucose is low, the C-Peptide may not be elevated to any degree normally. It is only when the glucose is elevated that you should see the C-Peptide level increased.
