From his daughter, Patti:

My daddy has lived most of my entire life with his diabetes. He was diagnosed in 1972. It’s been quite a struggle at times, but he’s always been a fighter, working two jobs at times, living through two heart attacks, and even been hit by a car riding his bike home from work. Caring for a person with diabetes isn’t easy task either always making sure they eat on time or have enough snacks or glucose tabs in case of a reaction, my mom can attest to that! My father is 77 now has been retired for a year now still active and going strong. He gives himself three injections a day of insulin I think he definitely deserves this CWD Journey Award for 50 years with type 1 diabetes.
