Gavin was diagnosed with diabetes at the age of eight. It was also the year his father and I started to separate. One thing had nothing to do with the other but to have both of that happen to a eight year old in one is a lot. Was it tough? Yes. Was he trooper? You bet he was! He hasn’t always handled everything with diabetes well but he has handled it. He doesn’t let it stop him from living his life. We have many ups and downs through the years since his diagnosis, but he has become this wonderful young man who still dreams big. I do my best along the way and I can’t wait to watch him soar.
