It has been a long bumpy road since 1976.A lot of highs and lows, but I am a survivor. Sometimes I wonder how I lived so long after being told by many doctors that I would not. When I was younger that thought was always on my mind and is still to this day. I made many bad choices in my younger years based on that one thought. One day I said to myself, “I’m going to fight this everyday one day at a time and stop feeling sorry for myself.” It hasn’t been easy but I did it. This award would mean a lot to me for all the struggling years I had and have coming and I proved all those doctors wrong.
