I am very concerned about my son. For the past week his blood glucose levels have been very high. He has poison ivy and just had a shot of cortisone right before all this started. Could either the poison ivy or shot be the cause of his high blood sugar?

My 5 year old son was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes two months ago. We find that by lunch his blood sugar crashes into the 60-70 range and then by late afternoon he is torpid and typically blood sugar goes above 200.
