After two years on Lantus and Apidra, my daughter’s blood sugars are usually elevated. Adjusting the Apidra by a unit causes either highs or lows and I am at a loss. Are her insulin doses not commensurate to her needs/weight?

Last year, my son had positive antibodies for type 1. He has been taking 1.5 units of Lantus in the morning. In recent blood work, his insulin level was quite high. Is that because he has been on Lantus? Shouldn’t his insulin level have been lower given his blood sugar at that time was 182 mg/dl [10.1 mmol/L]?
