FFL Orlando 2017 Horiz 2

Report from Saturday

Saturday – the final full day at Friends for Life - was a day for everyone to relax and have fun together with their friends new and old.

Relaxation means different things to different people, especially in Orlando’s heat and humidity. Some headed to the parks. Some headed to the fitness center or the spa. Some read books by the quiet pools while others engaged in the Dig Site pool games and high energy atmosphere. Some did laundry (yes, that is true)! Some wandered over to Disney Springs for brunch.

This year, we were pleased to offer several Saturday morning sessions. Marlene Koch and Susan Weiner presented a cooking demonstration called "CWD CHOPPED Challenge: Healthy Made Tasty." Informative and very, very fun. Thanks, BD, for sponsoring this session! Down the hall, The BETES Family Program was underway. The OVERNEATH combined a workshop for kids, one for adults, a show, and a lot of great conversations.

Additionally, two discussion groups were held just before lunchtime, a panel discussion for T1 adults and their partners, and a parents and teens discussion. Both of these gatherings offered a bit more structured discussion and some much-appreciated closure on the conference activities and conversation. Many thanks to those who led and participated in these groups.

Saturday evening featured three great parties, with DJ Miles and his team providing the dance music for each. The Family Fun Night was a Mad Hatter Party, and everyone was encouraged to wear their favorite – or their craziest – hat. This party drew nearly 500 people, and was so much fun! The Tween and Teen events were both packed up until the very last minute when the lights went up and the music stopped. Such great kids – such positive energy. Thanks, everyone, for participating in the Saturday night events!
