How has living through the COVID-19 pandemic affected your family?

August 12 - 19, 2020

How has living through the COVID-19 pandemic affected your family?
Our income has been affected.
Working from home is not an option for our job(s).
Our childcare/school situation has been affected.
We have had tap our savings, etc. for diabetes care.
We are rationing diabetes supplies.
Lockdowns and isolation have affected our mental health.
Lockdowns have made accessing healthcare difficult.
The impact has been minimal.

The world has been grappling with COVID-19 for months, and our diabetes community is dealing with affected income, difficulty accessing healthcare, navigating childcare and school, and also the mental health burden of living through a pandemic.  The vast majority of respondents clicked the "mental health" selection for this week's poll, and it's no surprise.  The lockdowns and isolation of COVID-19 have made mental health issues more prevalent, especially in communities where health concerns like diabetes make COVID-19 outcomes potentially more serious.

Our team at CWD has been working hard to create resources for people who are feeling overwhelmed by COVID, including a recent Screenside Chat with William Polonsky, PhD, CDE, President and Founder of the Behavioral Diabetes Institute, and CWD Board member and PWD, Kerri Sparling, where they discussed managing diabetes and mental health during a global health crisis.
