I am concerned about my 15 year old son who is five feet, five inches tall and weighs 180 pounds, and we have a family history of type 2 diabetes. I recently found out he is buying a lot of junk food in addition to his regular meals. I have been reluctant to mention weight issues previously because of concern with unwittingly precipitating an eating disorder. How can I help him?

My 18 year old son feels he is invincible and is experimenting with drugs and alcohol. He got his endocrinologist to prescribe an anti-anxiety medication. She has gone for 96 hours without an insulin injection. Her average blood sugar has been 75 mg/dl [4.2 mmol/L]. Unfortunately, she has had to be injected with glucagon four times in the last few days. How could this take such wild turn after all these years?

He has been seeing a psychologist and other doctors, but little is helping. Do you have any suggestions of where we can send him to get help?
