My 11 year old daughter, who has type 1 diabetes, is constantly having blood sugars from 400 to over 500 mg/dl, stomachaches and headaches, and she misses a lot of time in class. We have tried her on Lantus, but that wasn’t any good for her so we switched her back to NPH with a sliding scale of Humalog. I changed from Actrapid to NovoRapid, and I have never been able to get my night to morning blood sugar levels under control. They are always too high in the morning even with Insulatard at night. I have also tried reducing my Insulatard in case I’m giving myself too much, but this only gives me higher blood-sugar levels. What might the problem be? What should I do?
