Diagnosis and Symptoms

My five year old son had a six-hour fasting glucose test, and his pediatrician said that he had hypoglycemia, but she was not clear about his actual test results. She instructed me to test his level a few times a day and he has irregular readings no matter what the time of day which are 38-360 mg/dl [2.1-20 mmol/L]. Does this mean my son has diabetes? Does he need to see a specialist? What should I do?

I am even wondering if perhaps I stumbled onto a very early stage of diabetes that isn’t registering in her A1c, and my daughter isn’t “sick” from it yet. Why would my daughter’s pancreas allow her blood glucose to get that high before kicking in? Am I being neurotic or are the doctors always right?

My son has symptoms of hypoglycemia, but when I took to the doctor, they find nothing, and I am getting no help from the doctors. I feel that because he has medicaid and he’s a child, they aren’t giving him enough attention. What do I do to make them see the problem before this happens again?

My son was in an accident, had multiple injuries, and he had a couple of high blood glucose levels. He shows no signs of internal injuries at this time or upon examination, and he has not manifested any symptoms of diabetes, but there is a family history of type 2 diabetes on both sides. Could his glucose be high due to the trauma he has experienced?

For the last two months, I noticed that I’d get incredibly hungry before lunch, and sweaty, foggy, and sometimes shaky. I would dash back to the break room and grab something to hold me until lunch. I started checking my blood sugars which are 54-72 mg/dl [3-4 mmol/L]. So I bought an inexpensive meter and started checking my blood sugars. What do you think?

After what was diagnosed as a febrile seizure which required CPR, my daughter had a low blood sugar. Can someone who does not have diabetes have blood glucose readings out of the “normal” range?

I have reactive hypoglycemia, and my readings are in the low-normal range most of the time, but lately, I have been noticing that when I get up in the morning they are much higher. In addition, I have been uncharacteristically thirsty lately. I am confused. How this could be happening? Should I schedule an appointment with a doctor?

At first, my endocrinologist thought I had type 2 diabetes, but then changed the diagnosis to type 1. I am still confused as to what type of diabetes I have since I did have negative GAD.
