Diagnosis and Symptoms

My now 44 year old son, who has had type 1 diabetes since he was 11 years of age, sweats a lot when he sits down to eat or even when he is just relaxing. I tell him I think his diabetes is out of whack as he does not take very care of himself, but he says there is nothing wrong him. He has a rash and sores that do not heal on his legs. Do you think my daughter has type 1 diabetes? Do you think that insulin injections at this stage could help prevent her from losing all her insulin production? Does introducing insulin at this time actually make her body quit making its own insulin?

I am 18 years old and am fairly active, though unsure if I have diabetes. I am really thirsty (drinking 4 litres +) a day, frequent urination. I have recently been getting really tired and sleeping over 12 hours a day where I used to (a year ago) only need six. Do I have diabetes? Is there a way of finding out, other than going to the doctor, as I really don’t like going unless I really need to?

We have been testing his blood sugar randomly, and he has had high readings, but his blood work and urine were within normal range. What can explain his symptoms and his high blood sugar?

I feel the need to urinate frequently. Could it be caused by the medications I am taking or is it something else?
