My son was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes a few months after being hospitalized with “pneumonia”. Upon review, we learned that it was not pneumonia, but severe asthma. Is it possible that this was the result of too much prednisone or prolonged use while in the hospital for undiagnosed asthma?

She’s thirsty all time, hungry, weak, has blurred vision, and loss of concentration In addition, she has a vaginal discharge and skips periods. The doctor tested my daughter’s blood sugar which was 130 mg/dl [7.2 mmol/L], so she ruled out diabetes. Should I check into this further?

I have a three year old daughter. I began monitoring her morning sugars. She has had glucose levels at 54-60 mg/dl (3.0 -3.3 mmol/l). I also monitored her once an hour after having sweet tart sucker. Her level was a 258 mg/dl (14.3 mmol/l). Is this normal? Do you think anything else should be done?
