Hyperglycemia and DKA

My eight year old grandson has been running in the 400+ mg/dl [22.2 mmol/L] range for several days now. To get his sugar down, can/should he be allowed to go out and play to help burn off the excess sugar? As long as someone is watching him so he doesn’t crash (he has before), is it safe?

I am a 45 year old male with uncontrolled (blood glucose 18-25 mmol/L [180-450 mg/dl] or more) type 2 diabetes for the past 15 years, and nothing seems to work. Also, I was recently diagnosed with chronic hepatitis and lately, I’ve had a lot of gastrointestinal symptoms alone with high urine protein and ketones. Can any one explain why I have high urine protein and ketone readings? Is it malabsorption or ketosis or anything else?

My daughter began menstruating four months ago, about a week prior to her cycle, her blood sugars rise without any warning, and she is ending up in DKA. I would like to be proactive so she doesn’t go into DKA, but I am not sure how to do that.

My son recently had a sugar level of 159 mg/dl [8.8 mmol/L]. The doctor told me that his level could be up because of the asthma medications he takes. How can this be? If the medications he is on raise his sugar level, could he be put on other asthma medications that wouldn’t have this effect on him?
