I have had type 1 diabetes for 12 years, and sometimes when I go low in my sleep, I can’t snap out of a spell. I can’t function right and not wanting to cooperate. I usually snap out and realize I’m low about 20 minutes later. Is this normal in teenagers with diabetes?

The school district head nurse wants to give sugar first (if not passed out) or glucagon (if passed out) when a child is in a hypo or found passed out, and then check the child’s sugar level. Her opinion is better high than low. What is your opinion? Would the high levels of sugar caused by giving glucagon when not needed be bad for the child?
