My nine year old daughter, who has been pumping for about five months, she prefers a popular infusion set which has a Teflon cannula, but, unfortunately, the infusion set only seems to work for two days. Early on the third day, her blood sugar is high and the infusion set must be changed. Hence we now change every two days. What happens fits the description of tunneling. Is it okay to keep using infusion sets with Teflon cannulas, despite this problem, as long as we switch before they fail?

My six year old son has type 1. My husband came up with what I thought was a great idea — a continuous glucose monitoring system that gives feedback to an insulin pump thus creating a closed system (with adequate back up in case of malfunction). Does anyone know if anyone is working on such a device? If not, maybe someone should?

I am 29, Type 1, duration 16 years. The endocrinologist I saw last month recommended the insulin pump without even looking at my blood sugar readings. This to me sounds like a very drastic last resort measure. I do not want the pump unless it is the only thing left to try.
