Weight and Weight Loss

I have type 1 diabetes and was diagnosed five years ago. I would like to know how to lose weight. I have tried every diet possible. I do exercise every day. I only want to lose 15-20 pounds. Is there a possibility that my body is happy with where my weight is?

I am tired of being fat. Every time the nutrition assistant or the dietitian gives me a diet to follow, I follow it seriously for about a week or so, but then I stop following it and I really get angry, start hitting myself, and cry. I don’t know what to do. Would you please help me make a diet so I can become like any other teenage girl?

I am 36 years old, and I’ve had type 1 diabetes for 27 years. I am currently in my second week of a high protein/low carb diet. I do 40 minutes of aerobic exercise at least four times a week. Instead of losing any weight on this program, I have actually gained five pounds! Why does this diet produce different results in a person with diabetes than in someone who does not have diabetes?

My friend who got diabetes about seven months ago needs to lose weight, and at times has very high or very low numbers, so I am very concerned about him. He takes pills and does do his treadmill, but I don’t think he eats properly or that the doctor has given him a specific diet. I would like to help him, but I really don’t know enough about diabetes.

A specialist finally put my wife on insulin which seems to be helping, except for one thing — she has gained a lot of her weight back. Yesterday alone, she gained six pounds. Is this normal? What can be done to help her alleviate this problem? Will this condition continue?

I was diagnosed just under three months ago, and since then I have gained a little extra weight that is unwanted. I am pretty active, I walk twice a day, but I still don’t seem to lose this extra 15-20 pounds. Is there a diet I can go on?

I have gained very significant weight on insulin, even though I exercise and would like to convince my doctor to take me off the insulin. A doctor once told me Glucophage could help me shed some pounds in addition to bringing down my glucose, and just recently it was added to my treatment. Does Glucophage really help a person with diabetes lose weight?
