Question from Ohio, USA:

Can someone with type 1 diabetes come down with type 2 later in life?

Answer:

From: DTeam Staff

No. However, some with type 1 diabetes may demonstrate resistance to insulin and have their insulin requirements increased in association with a gain in weight, high blood pressure, and abnormal lipids. This probably suggests you developed type 1 diabetes initially and have a genetic predisposition to type 2 diabetes as well.
