Question from Fayetteville, North Carolina, USA:
Once the blood sugar drops to below 80 mg/dl [4.4 mmol/L], what do you normally give a patient to increase it again?
Answer:
From: DTeam Staff
When blood sugar falls below 55-65 mg/dl [3.1-3.6 mmol/L] you might want to give about 15 grams of fast-acting sugar as in juices or glucose tablets in order to quickly increase it. If physical exercise is planned, to add some complex carbohydrates to stabilize blood sugar over time.
