Question from Massachusetts, USA:

Our 14 year daughter has had diabetes for a month and is on oral medication. She is missing school, saying she is not feeling well when it’s time for school, but she goes out and hangs with her friends on weekends. She goes out all weekend, but when Monday comes, she says she’s not feeling well. Could this be because of her diabetes?

Answer:

From: DTeam Staff

Someone is using diabetes to manipulate you and get her way. Don’t fall for this.

[Editor’s comment: It sounds to me like your daughter needs to see a therapist. Please ask for referral to a social worker or psychologist before things gets worse.
