I’m told to have an evening snack, but I don’t quite understand the effect of the snack since if I do or don’t have an evening snack my A.M. fasting is really the same. So what purpose is the evening snack really serving, I’d rather not have the additional calories?

I took my 6 year old for a routine check. A urine test was positive for sugar. He is asthmatic and had been on steroids for 5 days. They did a finger prick glucose test which was 305. The doctor on duty thought it could still be due to the steroids.

My sister was diagnosed when she was eight years old — she is now 21. She has never been stable, I feel, due in part to our semi-functional family support system and in part due to poor management of her disease. She is struggling physically, mentally and emotionally (and to add another, financially).

I am looking to get the “green light” from my endocrinologist to start trying to get pregnant for the first time. I am currently taking 3 shots a day. My last glycohemoglobin was 6.4. My doctor is really encouraging me to switch to the insulin pump. I am worried about switching to an insulin pump.
