While I read a great deal about Humalog being able to maintain its efficacy for up to 28 days without refrigeration, we have had at least 6 instances of Humalog “going bad” on us. The bottles usually have been open a couple of weeks, so they are not close to expiration. Is there something we are missing?

My son, 8 years old, was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes two months ago. Two weeks ago he started having some sinus problems and we have found that his blood glucose has tended to the high side. We have increased his Humalog to 4 units and Protaphane to 9 but it does not seem to stabilise.
