Hayden Anderson
I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes on December 1st 1999 at the age of three. I’ve had many challenges in life, but I was able to bear the odds thanks to my mother who stepped in place of my pancreas! Without her, I would not be here! All my life I’ve always been a very active person, playing outside, ramping bikes, playing multiple sports. That being said I rejected getting an insulin pump until I was 16. I played football, basketball, and baseball for the majority of my life growing up. My senior year in high school, I made second team all district for baseball! I played outfield and I also was a pitcher! After graduating I’ve done many different things. I have completed more than 11 Spartan races (mid run), my longest one being 12 miles! I’m currently 29 years old and am a Rope Rescue Supervisor in the surrounding refineries in my area! I save lives for a living! With this short story, I just want to get across that you can do just about anything with type 1 diabetes!
