Jennifer Reed

I was diagnosed with Diabetes in my first trimester of my second pregnancy. When the Doctor did the glucose test, she felt that it was not gestational Diabetes, but that I would remain Diabetic after I delivered. On 4/26/1999 I was admitted to the hospital and officially diagnosed. I honeymooned for two years, but ended up on insulin after I began to see my sugars continuing to rise again and began to lose so much weight that I was skin and bones. I begged my primary care to see an Endocrinologist and when I did I was diagnosed with LADA. Since then, my oldest son was diagnosed with Diabetes in 2010. After Joey was diagnosed, I began a charity, Angel IDs, to provide free medical alert IDS to newly diagnosed Diabetic children. I made up my mind from the beginning to take care of myself and my Diabetes so I could have a long and healthy life for my family.
