Jermaine Hargrove

Hello, my name is Jermaine Hargrove, and I am the CEO and Founder of Small Town Animation Studios and The Animation TV Network. In 2008, I faced a significant challenge when I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, with a glucose level of 1100. The doctors weren’t sure if I would survive, and I spent five days in the ICU, fighting for my life. Despite the difficulties, I have learned to manage my condition over time. My family also had to make adjustments to support me, but together, we have found a way to thrive.

Today, I maintain my diabetes with healthy eating, regular exercise, routine doctor visits, and the incredible support of my family and church. Diabetes is not a death sentence. It’s a condition that can be managed with determination and the right mindset. With this same mindset, I created a global diabetic superhero TV series titled Gumshe The Type 1 Protector. Gumshe will be the face and mascot of diabetes, inspiring diabetic youth worldwide. I chose to live fully and not let diabetes define me.

Remember, you can face any challenge with the right support and a positive attitude. I may have diabetes, but diabetes doesn’t have me. You, too, can take control and live your best life. Embrace the journey, find your strength, and know that you have the power to overcome any obstacle. Together, we can inspire and uplift each other, proving that with hope and resilience, anything is possible.
