I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes right before my 7th birthday. Then we were hospitalized and I got out of the hospital a few days before my birthday. Had to adjust to being diabetic and birthday cake and ice cream. I have lived with diabetes for 50 years with no complications to date. I have lived a fairly normal life and live life to the fullest even with a chronic disease.
