My 13 year old son was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes 4 months ago. He complains of nausea frequently. Yesterday at school, he felt weak, nauseous, and shaky. The school nurse said his blood sugar was 71. What are some causes of this nauseous feeling? Could it be related to Nutrasweet or some other food?

Our 6 year old daughter has been complaining of shakiness for weeks now. My husband is a 30 year who has Type 1 diabetes. Finally, we insisted we check her sugar today and it was 27 just before lunch, 40 just before dinner. They say hypoglycemia is unusual in children. What would this be?

I am a twenty five year old woman and have had diabetes for sixteen years. My doctor has just put me on Glucophage. I do take two insulin shots a day (Regular and NPH). I am a little scared about taking this drug due to the fact that I cannot locate any info on people with Type 1 diabetes taking it.

My daughter is 7 years old and was diagnosed about 2 months ago with Type 1 diabetes. Since the diagnosis, she has had a reoccurring urinary tract infection (3 times) along with an enuresis problem. Is this very common for children with diabetes?

My daughter has had several episodes of DKA, one at onset, another as her body was changing and recently another. I feel that there may some type of drug abuse. My concern is with the “date rape drug” Rohypnol. Can you please tell me how she may react if she had taken such a drug?

Can you tell me anything about a patient who has both hypopituitarism and Type 1 diabetes? My daughter is 13 and has been diagnosed with type 1 for two years. She had her pituitary gland removed a year ago due to a tumor. Her care has become so complicated with additional hormones and medications. Is this normal for such a patient?
