Our 9-month old was diagnosed with neonatal diabetes at 2 months of age. She is insulin dependent. We were told by her endocrinologist that there is a 50% chance that she may outgrow this and that the average time period would be from 6 to 12 months from diagnosis. Is this true?

How does the Kussmaul’s respiration alleviate the acidosis, and is the diabetic’s body able to adequately replace the sodium bicarbonate lost? I am also wondering if the pancreatic digestive enzymes such as secretin are in good stores in diabetics.

I am a 26 year old male who was diagnosed with Type 1 about 10 months ago. Over the last 10 months, I have been reducing my intake of insulin to near zero, thinking I was in the honeymoon period. Today, my C-peptide came back positive and my antibodies came back negative.
