My 4 year old was diagnosed at 21 months with type 1. My 22 month old is now having blood glucoses in the 60’s and urinating heavily. He seems unusually tired and is thirsty a lot. Is it normal for him to have blood glucoses in the low 60’s or could he be developing diabetes also?

I took my 6 year old for a routine check. A urine test was positive for sugar. He is asthmatic and had been on steroids for 5 days. They did a finger prick glucose test which was 305. The doctor on duty thought it could still be due to the steroids.

My sister was diagnosed when she was eight years old — she is now 21. She has never been stable, I feel, due in part to our semi-functional family support system and in part due to poor management of her disease. She is struggling physically, mentally and emotionally (and to add another, financially).

I am looking to get the “green light” from my endocrinologist to start trying to get pregnant for the first time. I am currently taking 3 shots a day. My last glycohemoglobin was 6.4. My doctor is really encouraging me to switch to the insulin pump. I am worried about switching to an insulin pump.
