My 15 year old daughter is overweight and my husband has Type 1 diabetes. I took my daughter to the doctor and they noticed a skin discoloration in the skin on her knees, behind her neck and under her arms. The doctor mentioned that she was making too much insulin. I have a 1 year old daughter. I had gestational diabetes and my father was diagnosed around the age of 15 months old with juvenile diabetes. I am concerned that my daughter may have symptoms of diabetes.

My granddaughter was diagnosed 16 months ago. Her current insulin requirement is 5 units/day. Therefore, she must still be making some endogenous insulin. When I suggested the partial endogenous mechanism to my daughter-in-law she seemed incredulous.
