Diagnosed with type 1 in July 2011, my daughter has tested negative for all antibodies so the doctor has classified her as type 1b. Can you tell me more about this type of diabetes? Could she have some other condition requiring her to take insulin?

My daughter drinks and urinates about every 90 minutes. I am waiting for results of an ultrasound. Should she have a glucose tolerance test? Wouldn’t they have detected diabetes in her urine sample? She seems to have the symptoms.

Symptomatic for diabetes, I took my son to a doctor who ran tests and told me not to worry. However, the regular pediatrician was concerned and ran the tests again. Should I be worried? My son has been thirsty, urinating more and has a dark ring around his neck.
