The doctor suggested switching my son from NPH and Regular to NovoLog and Lantus. Is there a way to continue the old regimen and get better control? Might the lack of exercise be contributing to poorer control? Which is better: Lantus or a pump?

I have a son with type 1 and a daughter with Crohn’s, both autoimmune diseases. Are both linked to the same gene? Is there a chance that my daughter with Crohn’s can also get diabetes and that my son with diabetes can also develop Crohn’s?

Blood work indicated my son’s blood sugar was elevated so he was hospitalized. His blood sugars varied and he tested positive for antibodies, but the endocrinologist was not ready to treat him because he wasn’t consistently high. What is your opinion?
