My son is six years old and has had type 1 for about a year. He needs a tonsillectomy and the doctor is advising me to give him two-thirds of the NPH in the morning. Since he cannot eat possibly the whole day, is it still okay for him to have NPH in the morning?

At the age of six, my son had excessive sugar in the urine, which the doctor diagnosed as renal diabetes. Recently, my son (now 17) had his urine tested, and the nurse indicated it contained the highest sugar count she had seen in urine. He has not displayed any abnormal symptoms. Is the problem possibly worsening leading to diabetes?

When a person with diabetes is in ketoacidosis can there be a false reading of being intoxicated when having to take a breathalyzer test since ketones are an alcohol (or so I’ve been told)?

My two year old son, diagnosed with type 1 at fourteen months had gastroesophageal reflux which resolved itself around nine months of age, and I have recently become aware of other children diagnosed with type 1 at a young age who also had reflux. Do you know of any correlation of reflux in infants and type 1 diabetes?

I have recently been diagnosed with hypoglycemia and anorexia and have a lot of cravings for high carb/sugary foods. I know it would be best for me to avoid these, but I have a lot of trouble because I am an emotional eater. Do you have any suggestions that would help me curb this habit and also control my hypoglycemia at the same time?
