My 7 year old daughter has fairly frequent low’s, almost all of which are asymptomatic, even with blood sugars in the 30’s. They are treated without incident, and she’s on her merry way. While the acute dangers of hypoglycemia are obvious, what long-term complications can there be?

My daughter was told to add a unit of insulin during the week before her period because her blood sugars always seem to go up then. She is now up five units more on her morning and night Ultralente. Her blood sugars seem to be great but isn’t 17 Ultralente too much?

I have a 9 year old son who is about 20 pounds overweight. He was diagnosed with hyperinsulinaemia last year. He is still gaining weight and the dark line around the back of his neck and dark pigmentation under his arms is getting more pronounced. I am having a hard time finding any information on this and am not sure how to handle it.
