After five years on metformin I am having post-prandial spikes over 200 mg/dl [11.1 mmol/L]. Is there another medication I could take? Could I stop the metformin and just adhere to a strict diet? My A1cs have been fine.

My 12-year-old son has been physically damaging our home when being disciplined and I am afraid he might harm himself or someone else. His blood sugar was very high during one recent incident. Could the high have caused his rage? Would a pump help his blood sugars and, subsequently, his behavior?
