A 14 year old female patient has type 1 diabetes and Addison’s disease. At 126 pounds. she takes about 100 units of insulin a day. Is insulin resistance common with Addison’s disease, or, if she is being over insulinized and feeding insulin all day to prevent lows?

Since she had a seizure on Valentine’s Day, my 10 year old daughter has been having difficulty controlling her blood sugars. She is now unable to recognize most lows. Do you think we would have better results on the pump or a Lantus/Humalog regimen? Her diabetes team is divided on this issue.

After a recent flight, I noticed my post meal blood sugars were a bit high. When I checked my insulin pens, all three had little pressure. Could this have something to do with the cabin pressure of the flight? Is there a fix for this?

My daughter is 27 months old, diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in May 2003. She sometimes goes low during the night, then wakes up much higher. I know she could have a Dawn Phenomenon, but I really do not understand much about that. Can you give me any clarification or suggestions?
