My wife and I have recently had a new baby whose blood sugar at birth sugar level was practically zero. For the last two days, his blood sugar has been staying around the 20s mg/dl [1.1 mmol/L], but will go as high as the 70s mg/dl [3.9 mmol/L] sometimes. Could this be a sign of hypoglycemia? Would this most likely be a case in which my son’s body just needs a little time to get adjusted?

My daughter had a fasting blood sugar done that was 65 mg/dl [3.6 mmol/L]. At the same time, she had no sugar in her urine, but still tested positive for ketones. I was told not to worry and no follow up was necessary. I have now found myself questioning everything she does. I need to know how much urination and thirst is excessive.

My 10 year old son had an astrocytoma removed from his cerebellum about six months ago, and received a lot of steroids. Now, six months later, his fasting glucose was 9.9 mmol/L [178.2 mg/dl]. Could the stress of the 13 hour operation and the steroids have anything to do with this? Is there anything else that could cause his sugars to be up now?

I am 25 weeks pregnant and had a blood sugar of 148 mg/dl [8.2 mmol/L] on my one-hour test. I had a strange reaction about ten minutes or so after drinking the solution which persisted the rest of the day. Could this be a sign that I might have gestational diabetes even if the three-hour test comes back okay?
