My 16 year old daughter was diagnosed with epilepsy at age 13 based on the fact she had two morning seizures. How do I know it wasn’t hypoglycemia? Is a hypoglycemic seizure just like an epileptic seizure?

What can be done when a person with diabetes has an allergy to all of the synthetic insulins (including lispro) used to treat the disease? This allergy occurs in the pancreas, liver, kidneys, and poisoning of the blood.

Our 14 year old son was diagnosed three weeks ago with type 1 diabetes. His symptoms came on fairly quickly, and his blood sugar was 1900 mg/dl [105.6 mmol/L] when we took him to the hospital. What is the “record” blood sugar level and still be semi-aware?

I am 28 weeks pregnant with my second child. I just completed the 1-hour GTT and my reading was 161 mg/dl[8.9 mmol/L]. My doctor wants me to do the three-hour GTT. Can I get an accurate result on the three-hour test without eating this diet beforehand?

I am almost 30 years old and was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. I was very determined to lose weight and eat healthy, but it seems I have become more depressed about diabetes. I think I am in denial. I haven’t lost a pound, and I feel like a huge failure. I am praying I will get out of this depression and pay attention to a healthier life.

Unfortunately, I called my medical insurance and they told me that this is not covered with our plan. My 14 year old stepson, who has type 1 diabetes, has recently been ill for nine days. He is very thin and has a history of illness prior to the diagnosis. I am a true believer in nutritional support and feel that a dairy free diet (for our whole family ) would be very beneficial.
