My 14 year old son was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes approximately one year ago. He has been wetting the bed and hiding this from everyone. He has had months of very high blood sugars. Is bedwetting a common problem when blood sugars are high? How can I best approach this without embarrassing him?

I am 36 years old, and I’ve had type 1 diabetes for 27 years. I am currently in my second week of a high protein/low carb diet. I do 40 minutes of aerobic exercise at least four times a week. Instead of losing any weight on this program, I have actually gained five pounds! Why does this diet produce different results in a person with diabetes than in someone who does not have diabetes?

My 70 year old father has had diabetes for almost 20 years. Though quite thin, he is very active and in good general health. The only persistent problem is a discoloration around his right ankle, where it looks like permanent bruising. What could bring this on?
