I have a five year old daughter diagnosed with type 1 approximately three months ago. She seemed to adjust well at the time. Now, however, she is having a more difficult time. She has taken on a whole different personality. It breaks my heart to see her this way. Is this in some way the diabetes?

My daughter is in the seventh grade this year. She was diagnosed with type 1 at age six and has been on an insulin pump for almost 2 years. She is doing beautifully physically as well as mentally. Her teachers have all agreed that she needs to go on a “diet”. I would like to present these teachers with the facts about the current thinking about diet and teenagers.

How low would he have to go to have a rebound? Is it better to rebound? Is there any more sensitivity to giving insulin after a rebound? If he hadn’t rebounded, what would have been the likely scenario?
