I am a 33 year old female, 35 weeks pregnant. I was recently diagnosed with gestational diabetes. Being overweight when not pregnant, I have been used to reading labels and watching “fat grams”. Now having to watch carb grams, I see that a lot of low fat foods are higher in carbs than their full fat counterparts. It seems like I have to give up watching my cholesterol in order to control my blood sugar and ketones!

She eats regular healthy meals but continues to be ravenously hungry. Is she at risk for diabetes? Do people without diabetes also have low blood sugar sometimes?

I was diagnosed type 1 three years ago and was put on insulin therapy, first using shots, now using an insulin pump. I recently changed doctors and my new endocrinologist ordered a c-peptide level test and it came back at 4.3, indicating that I am producing more than enough insulin. What are the ramifications of this discovery?
