I am a type 1 diabetic interested in getting a insulin pump. However, my parents’ insurance won’t cover it. I will be getting out of school soon, and get a full-time job, and I want to get a health insurance group that covers pumps and supplies.

Is there any documentation of the use of brewers yeast, chromium picolinate or pyruvate to stabilize blood glucose levels in type 1? Do you know of any benefits/side effects of their use? My daughter is 4 years old; is there an age limit on the use of these supplements?

My 9 year old son was diagnosed 6 months ago. His management team want his sugar between 100 and 200. Lately, it has been fluctuating from 37-515. We haven’t had to change his diet, only paying more attention to carbs. Is this normal?

I am 17 and have had diabetes for 13 years now. I have recently switched from R to Humalog. I have found that when I have a meal with protein my sugars go high and stay high for most of the day. When I skip the protein my sugars are in the 5-7 mmol range, which is perfect!

I have a 9 year old who has been diabetic for 6 years and a 5 year old who has recently been diagnosed. We were recently asked to take part in a research project and the researchers were asking if there was any family history of thyroid disorders. Is there any link with the diabetes?

My 11-year old daughter had a glucose tolerance test. The first hour, her level was below normal, but the 2nd and 3rd hours were normal. Is this relatively common, or should I be concerned about anything?
