My husband has been a diabetic for the past 22 years; he is now 27. He was recently diagnosed with moderate stage renal disease. What does this mean? Does this mean dialysis very soon?

My 6 1/2 year old son was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes 2 1/2 years ago. He currently has moderate hypoglycemias (in the low 50’s) every one out of every 5 or 6 blood glucose tests. Are the lows a concern for brain development at his age, and if not, how low of an hbA1c should we try for?

Our 13 year old son has recently been having ups and downs with his blood sugars: high during the night and waking up in the 300’s. His endocrinologist suggested Glucophage to give him better control until he starts using the pump. What are your thoughts on this?

My son, age 3.5 years, was diagnosed when he was 1 year old. He suffered a very serious bout of croup 10 months prior. There is a history of diabetes in my family. I believe that although he was predisposed to diabetes, the croup sped up the onset of the diabetes.

I am a 35 year old insulin dependent diabetic. My wife is having a baby in several months. Is there a test that can be run to find our if my baby carries the genes or cells that can cause diabetes?

My daughter is 8 years old and was diagnosed at age 4. We both tried the pump with a placebo for 3 days. The only problem with the pump was with the insertion of the tube. This was extremely painful for her, and she refuses to consider the pump.

I have a child that will be going into middle school in the fall. He has type 1 diabetes and sometimes goes low when he has unplanned exercise at school. In middle school he will just have a part time nurse. He will have 9 teachers in a day. Do you have any advice for handling the situation?
