I once had a blood sugar level of 360 mg/dl [20 mmol/L], but I lost weight and went on an exercise program and now my blood sugar level stays normal or below. Would I still be considered to have type 2 diabetes?

Last year I had gestational diabetes, and I am always on the watch for type 2 diabetes for that reason. For the past week, I have had really dry eyes. I know some of the things that diabetes can do is affect the eyes. What symptoms for diabetes have to do with the eyes, if any?

I am trying to convince a woman that I know that her 10 year old son must go see a doctor. This child is like a ticking time bomb as far as his health. He went to the doctor about eight months ago, and the pediatrician told his mother that she is worried and wanted lab work done up on him. She made it sound like no big deal, never bothered to take him back, and gets furious when I mention that he has signs of type 2 diabetes.

In the past, my son has symptoms of being cold, having shaky hands, feeling very tired, and being and forgetful. We have a family history of diabetes. Should I be persistent in acquiring more tests?

Our seven year old daughter has recently been dealing with fatigue. She has also had poor skin color, several skin infections, and her hair has lost its luster. She is also eating us out of house and home and has started drinking and going to the bathroom more. My husband’s relative mentioned having her tested. We’d rather go with the least invasive/hurtful thing, and, if the urine will answer our questions, we’ll stop there.
