My 10 year old daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes about four months ago, and, at her latest check-up, her pediatric endocrinologist told us there is a new “type” called type 1.5, and that her pancreas is still producing insulin. Can you provide me with any information on type 1.5 diabetes? Would oral medication help?

Does this sound like early stages of diabetes or does this typically happen to all children when they get sick? Is it possible for a child without diabetes to have a blood sugar of 356 mg/dl [19.8 mmol/L] if he is sick with virus?

I test my blood glucose 10-14 times a day because my numbers are jumping all over the place, and I feel crappy all the time. Is it possible to have two honeymoons? Do you have any ideas?
