This is my first pregnancy. My one-hour glucose tolerance test showed a level of 158 mg/ dl [.8 mm/l] My doctor says that 134 mg/dl [7.4 mmol/L] is their “normal cut-off range”, and they are insisting that I submit to the three-hour screen. Aren’t there better, non fasting ways to test more accurately how my body metabolizes sugar?

I am 12 years old and have had diabetes for seven years. I can usually tell when I am low or high, but lately, my symptoms have been either backwards or none at all. Is this normal? What’s making it that way?

My son is six years old and has had some increasing symptoms of diabetes. He has had complaints of light-headedness, nausea, increased thirst, increased urination, increased hunger, and mood swings. He had a fasting blood sugar test done two months ago and it was negative. Can the symptoms appear and wax and wane for awhile, prior to a positive test result?

I am looking for information on low amylase. My son is 13 years old and has Type 1 diabetes and asthma. Over the last nine months, his amylase is dropping and his amylase is elevated. He has had an increase of stomach pain over the last six months. Could it be gastroparesis or celiac disease?

I have a nine year old son who was diagnosed with diabetes at age two, and we have two other sons. We have been watching for diabetes in our three year old. He has some high sugars. His glycohemoglobin was 6.5%, and his C-peptide was 0.9. Is this normal for this age and what should be done if anything?

I am outraged at parents that choose not to personally monitor and supervise (or perform) the glucose monitoring, dietary needs and insulin injections for their children. How many parents out there actually accept the “inconvenience” and manage or co-manage their children’s diabetes?

Am I being a hypochondriac mother or should I be concerned about my nine year old daughter? Recently she wet the bed — something she has never done — and has a history of waking at night to urinate (maybe 2-3 times a week.) She urinates maybe five or six times a day during waking hours. On the other hand, she does not have excessive thirst or hunger, is not losing weight, and is not fatigued. should I schedule a visit with her pediatrician?
