My 14 year old son was originally diagnosed seven years ago. He has been on the same insulin dosage since his diagnosis. His blood sugars are always within range. His doctor recently did a glucose tolerance test and an antibody test. They came back normal. Could there be any damage from taking insulin for seven years? Could there be any other diagnosis?

I have found the schools to be unsympathetic. Isn’t it true that the demands of school, his diabetes routine, and the side affects of high/low blood sugars can adversely affect school performance?

I started using Humalog a year ago with good results but find that if I take enough to cover a meal, I can’t eat fast enough to avoid hypoglycemia. I’ve been taking a mix of Humalog and Regular and have had good results. Are there any problems with mixing Humalog with Regular either briefly in the syringe just before injection or for an extended period in a pre-drawn syringe?

My mother, myself, and my two daughters have type 1 diabetes. We all use the same types of supplies for the sake of reordering ease. My mother’s health insurance is significantly better than mine and utilizes a mail order prescription plan which sent her the wrong syringes. They tell us that they cannot exchange these supplies. I would like to know if there is any way I could exchange them.
