My 10 year old daughter has shown signs of having diabetes for about a year and a half. A home urine test was positive for glucose. If she indeed has diabetes, and I have waited this long, what has it done to her system by waiting? How can I reassure her that everything is okay and she is still the same loving, caring 10 year old she was before the test?

My three year old was recently tested for diabetes. He has a six year old sister and has had diabetes for two and a half years. His symptoms were like hers, but his blood test showed a glucose reading of 94 mg/dl [5.4 mmol/L]. We also had insulin antibody tests done on: Pork, Beef, Human. Is he on the border with the numbers or is this just wait and see if he develops more symptoms?
