She drinks a large amount of Sprite. We tried to stop her drinking it at night. The next morning I found her very sweaty, trembling, her heart was pounding and the rate was very quick, she was breathing fast, and when I got her to wake up, she was very hungry and stumbling around. She was better after feeding. We tried again and the same thing happened. Could this be episodes of hypoglycemia, and if it is, should I just keep giving her the Sprite?

My three year old son was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes several months ago. As his honeymoon phases has diminished, insulin just seems to run right through him. Could part of my problem be from using two different brands of insulin? I am very interested in trying pump therapy as soon as possible. How can I find another diabetes team that would support me on this?

I took my 14 year old son, who has diabetes, to his enodcrinologist because of an eight pound weight loss. He noticed that my son had sweaty hands, rapid heart beat and another weight loss and told me that my son may have an overactive thyroid. What do we expect if he does have overactive thyroid? Will this affect his blood sugar control? Will my endocrinologist also test for Addison’s Disease, and celiac disease?

He saw a local doctor who put him on metformin blood pressure tablets, cholesterol tablets, and, he is taking a tablet for sinus. His general health is now terrible, constantly ill. I believe with diet and exercise, it is not necessary for him to have medication at this stage, so long as the sugar level is kept under control. I have asked him to go and talk to the Diabetes Centre so that he may be reassured of his state of health. What do you think?
